Quarry Features Overview

The CompuWeighTM System offers many special features to customize a database to fit the specific needs of a Quarry.

Some feature available are:
  • Job Tracking
  • Account Specific Fees
  • Material/Account Tracking
  • Pricing by Material
The CompuWeighTM System allows you to store tare weights (with/without expiration dates) so that trucks will only need to weigh out before they leave. This can help to save time because you are only weighing the truck once instead of twice. CompuWeigh can also handle the direction in which the truck is headed. With most quarries, trucks are mainly coming in empty and leaving full. With this software you can pre-define which weight gets read into the software first. With trucks coming in light, the software will automatically pull the weight off the indicator and stick it in the tare field. Vice Versa, if a truck is dropping something off like dynamite, the transaction can be automatically set to grab the gross weight first.

Job Tracking

Our Job Tracking Module permits for a quick and convenient way to save job types to a transaction. The job type can be very important to define for a quarry. This module actually drives the transaction. The user can store all the general information, any default items (like a tare weight or materials) that the job might be taking, what they are approved for, and notes on that particular job. This module even allows users to enter directions to the job for the driver!

Not only can the job module help with tracking jobs, but it also allows the user to quote jobs and keep track of quoted accounts with different material prices for that specific account. This module keeps track of who quoted what job and on what day. You can also mark the job complete once it has finished or you can mark it inactive. This helps to keep the current job list clean by only listing current jobs, but it also archives inactive or complete jobs so that the user can report on them at any point in the future. The scale attended would enter the truck number and the jobs module automatically opens. The attendant would then select the appropriate job and continue on with the transaction.

Account Specific Fees

Above is an example of the Door rate for regular customers. The Label contains the name of the material and Rate holds the standard amount charged to most customers. However, some customers place bids on what price they want to pay for certain commodities. In cases like this, our CompuWeigh System allows the user to enter specific rates for that specific account.

For those customers with account specific rates, you can enter them into a screen like the above example. When that particular account enters the quarry, everything is already set up with their specific price, not the standard price. This way the scale attendant does not have to remember who gets charged different rates. This helps to eliminate errors that the office needs to fix. Account specific rates save time for both the office and the scale house. Above is an example of a specific account with its specific rates.

Job/Account/Vehicle Tracking

In the CompuWeigh system you can view shift totals at any point in the day. This Station Totals function allows you to view many different tables that display totals up to that point in the day. In this example, we are looking at the Totals by Bill Account Table. This table shows us the current number of times that account has completed a transaction so far that day. It also displays the Gross Ton, Tare Ton, Net Ton, and Total Ton for that account so far today.

In this example below, we are looking at the Vehicle table. We can see the number of trucks that have come into the facility as of the moment you pull up this screen, as well as Tare Ton, Gross Ton, and Total Tons.

This screen is the material table, it displays how many times a certain material was used. It also displays the Net Ton and Total Ton for that specific type of Material.

The CompuWeigh System even allows you to see what your busiest time of the day was. In this example, 4 PM was the busiest hour. This can help to see when would be a good time to have more then one scale attendant, or when a good time is to break for lunch, etc.

Northwest Arkansas Quarries

Northwest Arkansas Quarries process 400 - 600 tickets a day. Their customers range from Private Haulers to Public Citizens to Municipal Governments. The materials currently sold at that site are Red Dirt, Grit, Concrete, B-Stone, Lime, Shot Rock, and much more. They turned to Paradigm Software looking for a software solution for their quarry. They were using an old DOS system that didn't allow much customization. They could not shape it to fit their exact needs. Northwest Arkansas Quarries plains to expand, and with the new system in place they should have no problems.

On Wednesday February 25 2004, Northwest Arkansas Quarries went live with the CompuWeigh System. They had no formal training prior to that day and just did training on the spot as they went along. It went off without a hitch. The scale attendants had the screen completely filled out before the truck even came to a stop on the scale. As soon as they could grab the Gross weight off the indicator, the ticket was finished! Everyone was amazed to see how much faster they could work with the CompuWeigh System in a Windows environment.  Since that time Northwest Arkansas Quarry has purchased three (3) additional facilities and ALL are operating the CompuWeigh System.
